What started as a group of misfit musicians with a rebelliousstreak quickly evolved into a full-force touring machine, bringing their infectioussound to countless stages across North America and the Caribbean. With seven full-length albums, two EPs, and a stack of singles, The Supervillainshave cemented their reputation as one of the hardest-working bands in theunderground ska-punk scene. In 2007, they signed with LAW Records, the labelowned by Hawaiian reggae heartthrobs Pepper, propelling their music to abroader audience and solidifying their place in the genre.Between relentless touring, the band found a second home in St. Thomas, wherethey escape to write new material, soaking in the island vibes and crafting thenext batch of anthems for their ever-loyal fanbase. Best described as a punk rockband that got kicked out of marching band, smoked too much weed, andstumbled in and out of a Reggae band, The Supervillains bring a sound that’sequal parts raw energy and laid-back groove. In Summer 2025, the band hits the road again for an ambitious USA tour, split intotwo legs—one covering the East Coast and another hitting the West Coast, withstops in between and, of course, Florida. Whether it’s a sweaty dive bar or a sun-soaked festival, one thing’s for sure: The Supervillains always bring a towel.Catch them on tour, crack a beer, and don’t be such a disappointment.

Butcher Brown, Cosmic Collective at The Annex

LAVA Presents:Saturday, April 12, 2025 at The Annex   Butcher Brown The Cosmic Collective   Doors 5pm // Music 6pm Please note, this show starts and ends early! Tickets $22 advance // $27 day of show All Ages   —– “So, what kind of music do you make?” This question is the bane of every musician’s existencebecause it requires that they shrink down the wide expanse of their creativity to an easily(mis)understood genre description. No matter how vivid or elaborate the description, “show” will always be more powerful than “tell.”The words we use to describe music don’t encapsulate what the listener’s experiences as muchas give context clues. That’s why Butcher Brown – the multifaceted band from Richmond, Virginia – call their soundand their follow up to 2020’s #KingButch and their second release on Concord Jazz, SolarMusic. “Solar music” is not simply a description; it’s an invitation to listen and an invitation to feel.   Friends and bandmates Corey Fonville (drums), Andrew Randazzo, (bass), Morgan Burrs(guitar), Marcus “Tennishu” Tenney, (trumpet, saxophone, vocals) and Devonne “DJ Harrison”Harris (multi-instrumentalist) make music that is as diverse as their own varied tastes andbackgrounds. It’s a seamlessly blended amalgam of sounds including jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk,R&B, alternative, soul, country, house, bossa nova, pop, and more. “We are the melting pot. Weare the mix,” says Devonne. “I feel like that’s what we represent and that’s what this albumrepresents.”
